Craig, thanks. I agree with your theory. My perception is that many of them chose to ignore Biden's decline. Had there been more documentation of his decline, it may have prompted him to decide not to run much earlier.
I recall working on the Hill in the 1970s. There was a senior Montana Democrat, Lee Metcalf, who was a chronic and acute alcoholic. I was amazed that with all the reporters constantly roaming the halls of the Capitol those days, I never read a word about it. The Senator's staff would carry him in. When his name was called, one of them would face away from the chair and vote.
In any case, thanks for your kind words about the piece. Much appreciated.
I think Craig is on to something too. However, Biden’s age and fitness were constantly featured on Fox News and their ilk. Screed after screed about it. Meanwhile there’s a Mad King in the White House prancing around buck-naked and nobody says shit.
John, I’m somewhat of a Watergate junkie. I often wonder what you think compared to when you were in the thick of it with Nixon. I’m also REALLY interested in what Mo thinks, having been a witness to both corruption schemes. It would make a fascinating piece. Or a book.
Kiera, please know that I am not John W. Dean, III. Although I lived in Washington during Watergate, I am no relation to that Dean and have never met him or Mo. Sorry.
I think with regard to the Biden book you've asked the right question, WHY? We know now there was a problem. We know much was kept from the American people. We know Joe Biden didn't run for reelection and his Vice President lost....
My theory is that journalists were on a guilt trip about not really uncovering a story they hoped was not true. Then, they decided to get even by turning on their sources who misled them.
Washington has become a very tough place to be....imagine the behind the scenes stories that will appear in books after Trump 2.0!
The focus on Biden by the mainstream media plays right into Trump’s hands. It's another distraction from this administration's brazen corruption and outrageous talk of suspending habeas corpus. I daresay their strategy of flooding the zone and attempting to distract people from the real issues, is working for a large segment of Americans, which is unfortunate.
Did you see MBS fawning as Trump complimented him? It looked so phony it was embarrassing for the country to think our president resident needs to have his ego massaged like that.

Whew.....so many challenges!

I could not agree more.

I did see that. I wish I would have included it in the post. . .
