Wray Resigns; It's Bad News
The FBI Director leaves two years before his term ends, clearing the way for Kash Patel and a reign of retribution.
I don’t blame Christopher Wray for resigning his job as FBI Director. Trump would have made his life hell. Angry at Wray’s handling of the Mar-a-Lago documents case, performing investigations in connection with the impeachment of Trump for January 6, and also doing his job in connection with the indictment of Trump in two federal courts, Trump is anxious to remove Wray from the FBI and replace him with a loyalist.
Trump, acting through likely Attorney General Pam Bondi, would have attempted to undermine Wray at every turn.
Unfortunately, Trump’s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, has made no secret of his vision for a Trump Department of Justice. He has promised to prosecute mainstream media for its “lies” about Donald Trump. Several former Trump officials, including former Attorney General Barr and former National Security Advisor John Bolten, have also condemned Patel and consider him unfit to serve as FBI director.
Trump commented on Wray's resignation on his social media site. His post is telling:
The Senate is unlikely to reject the Patel nomination—a sad and dangerous day for America.
It was bad news the morning of Nov. 6. It's only getting worse.
