How much of Robert F. Kennedy’s brain did the worm eat? Does anyone care? The Kennedy story keeps getting weirder and sadder.
Before watching, or, should I say, starting to watch, RFK Jr.’s tedious, hour-long press conference announcing the suspension of his campaign and endorsement of Donald Trump, I read an article in The Atlantic titled, “RFK, Jr. Was My Drug Dealer.” Kurt Anderson, a fellow student at Harvard with Kennedy in the 1970s, reports that Kennedy sold him cocaine and was angry when Anderson accidentally took the cocaine straw with him. I wondered how strange this guy could get.
There may be dozens of Kennedy stories we haven’t heard yet. Unfortunately for Trump, he will now be associated with Kennedy’s dead bear cub, his second wife’s suicide, drug dealing, attacks on Dr. Fauci, and a lot more weirdness. Kamala Harris should send a thank you note.
I won’t repeat the RFK, Jr. story here. It receives more press than it deserves. However, one part of the Kennedy story has yet to be told: Did Trump promise him a job if he won in November?
Remember that Trump is a master negotiator. His skills are documented in The Art of the Deal. I suspect RFK Jr. has not read the book. If he has, he would know not to trust Trump. In all likelihood, if the tragedy of Trump winning in November happens, he will screw RFK, Jr. and deny that he promised him anything. That’s just who DJT is.
If Trump appoints RFK, Jr. to an important job, such as head of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), expect chaos. RFK Jr. will have his own agenda. He may assume that he took advantage of Trump rather than vice versa. He may be congratulating himself on wrangling Trump's promise of an “important job” and believing that his bizarre presidential candidacy was a success.
Will RFK Jr. campaign for Trump?
I hope to see RFK Jr. join Trump at rallies between now and Election Day. Unfortunately, that probably won’t happen. Just the sound of Junior’s voice will send attendees to the exits. I also suspect Trump will not want to be associated with someone whose voice is compromised.
Kennedy, instead, is likely to continue to write about toxic food, the dangers of vaccines, and the need to end “endless wars.” I won’t be reading them.
Kennedy's most surprising statement at his press conference was admitting that he believed Trump would end the war in Ukraine in one day, something Trump had promised. As Kennedy made the admission, I shook my head and blamed the brainworm.
