The Shaundra Gray Affair--Scandal and Survival on Capitol Hill
A political thriller for the beach captures life on the Hill
A promising member of Congress, possibly a future President of the United States, is suspected of murdering an intern in his office. Did he? And can he survive the scandal?
Those questions are at the heart of Dan Yager’s newly published novel, The Shaundra Gray Affair. It is an engaging political thriller supercharged with a nuanced understanding of the challenges of serving in Congress.
Dan Yager worked for several years as a top aide on Capitol Hill, just as I did, in the 1970s and 80s. That service, and various real-life events of the 1980s, inspired the novel.
Yager’s career on Capitol Hill influenced the key characters in the book: an impressive but flawed Congressman, a gifted Capitol Hill journalist, a Congressional intern released into the sometimes chaotic and dangerous world of Washington, and a Congressional aide supporting the Congressman as he struggles to survive a scandal.
The book is a page-turner—I read it in three sessions. It is a great beach read, but it's also worth reading for the insights into how Washington works. If I were teaching a political science course on legislation, I would assign the book.
The Shaundra Gray Affair is now on sale and, amazingly, for just one dollar due to a publisher’s promotion—something often done to promote first-time novels. (Don’t let the low price keep you from reading a great book—Yager is a gifted author. We will be reading more from him, I hope.)
The Kindle version of The Saundra Gray Affair is now available.

Hi John, Thanks for letting your readers know about what sounds like a great book. In addition to being a lifelong liberal Democrat, I love mysteries and spy thrillers. (I need something to read to take a break from news reports!) Although I am trying hard to never, ever to buy from Amazon again, I couldn't resist their offer to buy the Kindle version for less than a buck. I wish the author well in his career as a novelist. It's not an easy way to earn a living especially at the front end, but your endorsement will help. I'm sure he will appreciate it.
