Newsflash: Readers Don't Like Trump
Results of the first Dean's Issues & Insights Reader Survey
It has been less than a week since I posted my first reader survey. Thank you to the more than 700 people who looked at it, and special thanks to the 62 readers who responded.
As I noted in the survey, I had no pretensions of the survey being scientific. My subscriber list is not representative of America (as much as I wish it were). Most of Dean’s Issues & Insights subscribers appear to be left of center. I rarely get condemnations when I comment on something the President has done that I don’t like. I always get nods of agreement when critical of Trump 2.0.
For what it’s worth, here are the results of the survey:
This question should have had an option for “No, I don’t expect retribution.” I wonder if anyone would have checked it.
Readers are skeptical about President Trump’s motives in attempting to downsize government radically. Importantly, however, four readers accept President Trump’s claim that the effort is to reduce the cost of government.
This was a somewhat (or maybe more than somewhat) stupid question, but I was angry when I wrote it. Importantly, six readers seemed to agree that the question was over-the-top and rejected the unfair choice between “Mad Man” and “Fascist.”
I found this response interesting. Ten respondents either believe they are witnessing history—I agree with them but don’t like the history.
Each question in my unscientific survey included an option for “Other” responses. Here is a list of those responses. I found them interesting.
I hope to do another survey this weekend—a better-constructed one.
