Who is Melania Trump and why should anyone care? Those are questions prompted by the pending publication of Mrs. Trump’s autobiography.
When I learned that Trump had become an author, my first thought was, “Aha! Now I know where’s she been.” My second thought was to look for the book on the web. I found it on Melania’s website. The book is apparently self-published.
Relieved that the whole thing wasn’t some sort of a political spoof, I wrote a short piece about the book and included a screenshot of Mrs. Trump’s webpage where the book is being peddled.
The article may be read as published on Dean’s List here with no paywall.
Melania’s Autobiography? No Thank You
As summer winds down, I look for books to read at the beach. With embarrassment, I am finishing up Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed. The book is trash but has a chapter on Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. that is, let me put this delicately, “unflattering.”
I will not follow up Maureen Callahan’s read with Melania Trump’s autobiography, which is creatively titled Melania.
The book is now available for pre-order directly from the author’s website. What’s in the book? The Melania Trump website offers this summary:
Melania is the powerful and inspiring story of a woman who has defined personal excellence, overcome adversity, and carved her own path. The former First Lady invites readers into her world, offering an intimate portrait of a woman who has lived an extraordinary life.
Unlike her husband, Melania is not known as a world-class liar. The blurb for Melania is an example. Melania has overcome adversity (marrying Donald Trump and suffering through his infidelities and boorishness). She has also “carved her own path (living separately from Trump, not attending his criminal trial in New York earlier this year, not speaking at the Republican convention, and not campaigning for him).
I don’t like pornography, so if the “intimate portrait” the book promises consists of some of the photos of Melania earlier in her career, I am not interested.
I will live just fine if I never read another word about Melania Trump, so I won’t be buying the book. If some joker decides to mail me a copy, I plan on recycling it immediately.
